Description

Crispy, golden butternut squash fries made in an air fryer with a blend of spices and cornstarch for a light crunch. A healthier alternative to deep-fried fries, these offer a smoky, sweet flavor perfect for fall and easy customization.

Ingredients

Scale

1 medium butternut squash
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon fresh thyme
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Peel the butternut squash carefully, removing the seeds from the bulb end. Slice the neck and bulb into ¼- to ½-inch planks, then cut diagonal slanted fries for uneven edges
In a bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, smoked paprika, thyme, and salt. Toss the squash fries with olive oil, then add to the seasoning mix and coat evenly
Place the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 18 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy
Optional: Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving

Notes

Pat the fries thoroughly dry before seasoning for maximum crispiness
Lightly grease parchment paper in the air fryer basket to prevent sticking
Replace fresh thyme with dried herbs or add black pepper for more flavor
