1 lb potatoes (russet, golden, or red varieties), washed and scrubbed
1 tablespoon avocado oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
½ cup mayonnaise (spicy mayo optional)
2 tablespoons chili powder (spicy mayo optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder (spicy mayo optional)
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C)
Cut potatoes into ¼-inch sticks and soak in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch
Pat fries dry thoroughly with paper towels
Toss potato sticks with 1 tablespoon avocado oil, salt, and pepper
Place fries in air fryer basket in a single layer
Cook for 12 minutes, flip fries, then cook 10-12 more minutes until crispy
Make spicy mayo by mixing mayonnaise, salt, and pepper, then stir in chili powder and garlic powder (if using)
Serve fries hot with optional spicy mayo
Notes
Soaking removes starch for crispier fries
Adjust cook time based on air fryer model (150°F difference recommended)
Add rosemary or paprika for extra flavor
