Description
A crispy, cheese-drenched Italian classic made healthier with air frying. Tender chicken breasts are breaded and baked to golden perfection, topped with marinara and melted mozzarella for a satisfyingly guilt-free meal.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg, whisked
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (fresh or halal alternative)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes
Place chicken breasts on a plate and season both sides with salt and pepper
Dip each chicken breast into flour, shaking off excess
Dip into whisked egg, then coat in breadcrumbs
Lightly brush both sides of chicken with olive oil
Place in air fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes
Flip chicken and cook for another 7 minutes until golden and crispy
Brush marinara sauce over each piece and top with mozzarella and Parmesan
Return to air fryer and cook for 3-5 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles
Notes
Use halal-certified Italian meats if substituting chicken
For vegan version, use plant-based chicken and vegan cheeses
Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving
Leftovers can be stored in airtight containers for up to 3 days
