Description
Crispy apple sticks coated in a cinnamon-sugar blend and seasoned breadcrumbs, made in the air fryer for a quick and delightful sweet treat, perfect for snacks or dessert.
Ingredients
2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon melted butter or oil (optional, for extra crispiness)
Maple syrup or cinnamon sugar, for dipping
Instructions
Prep the apples by washing and drying them thoroughly.
Cut the apples into sticks or fries (about 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches long).
In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
In another shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs.
Dip each apple slice into the flour mixture, shaking off the excess. Then coat it in the breadcrumbs until evenly covered.
Place the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd.
Optional: Lightly brush the apple fries with melted butter or oil for extra crispiness.
Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the apple fries are golden and crispy.
Repeat if necessary with remaining apple fries.
Serve warm with a dip of your choice, such as maple syrup or cinnamon sugar.
Notes
Use a firm apple variety to prevent the pieces from becoming too soft or soggy during cooking.
If you prefer a lighter coating, you can omit the flour and coat the apples directly in the cinnamon-sugar breadcrumb mixture.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a day.
