Description
Soft, chewy bagels with a golden crust, ready in just 20 minutes using an air fryer. Perfect for busy mornings without sacrificing flavor or texture.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour (optional for extra texture)
1/2 cup Greek yogurt, full-fat
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar (or honey)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Everything bagel seasoning (or poppy and sesame seeds, coarse salt) for topping
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix the flours, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
In another bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, milk, water, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until a soft dough forms.
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each into a ball.
Using your thumb, poke a hole through the center of each ball and gently stretch and shape into traditional bagel form.
Let the shaped bagels rest for 5-10 minutes.
Brush each with a little water and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or your favorite toppings.
Place the bagels in the air fryer basket and cook at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can freeze shaped bagels uncooked and air-fry them later directly from frozen, adding 2-3 extra minutes of cooking.
If your air fryer is small, cook in batches for even browning.
Toppings can be mixed and matched: try a mix of seeds, cracked black pepper, or even cinnamon sugar for a sweet option.
